    Engineer Tomás Paredes Royo is responsible for evaluating, planning and developing all FCDS infrastructure, including plans and urban development regulations for the area.

    Tomás Paredes Royo has solid professional training in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Bradford, England, and several renowned American institutions such as the Massachussets Institute of Tecnology (MIT).

    He has held important positions in public administration, such as that of General Director of the Civil Aviation Authority between 2004 and 2006, and the Secretariat of the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority from 1997 to 1999. During that period, he had a chance to participate in different stages and forums related to the Canal transfer. His connection with Canal affairs began in the early 80s, when he was the General Director of the government bureau responsible for coordinating the implementation and compliance with the 1977 Torrijos­Carter Treaties.

  • Myriam Calvo

    Myriam Calvo

    Planning and Development Manager

    Myriam Calvo­Morales is an executive in FCDS’s Infrastructure and Service Department. Her specialized studies and professional experience are oriented to the business and economic sector: she has a master’s degree in Economy and a postgraduate degree in Project Formulation, Evaluation and Management from the University of Panama. She was also trained in Quality Management and ISO 9000 Standards at the Aviation Training and Development Institute in Florida, USA.

    Three decades of professional practice in various areas related to Canal affairs make up this architect’s résumé. She was an assistant in the Planning and Development Department of the Canal Commission (1979), responsible for Treaty Matters in the Executive Management office (1980­1982), regional urban planner for the canal area in the Ministry of Economic Policy and Planning (1982­1987) where she also held other positions, and assistant to administrative and general management in the Interoceanic Region Authority (1995­2000). She has also started two companies of her own, in which she has been in charge of administration and management.
