Clayton Theater is one of the jewels that had been hiding inside Fort Clayton. When these areas reverted to Panama, upon enforcement of the TorrijosCarter Agreements, those premises were within the City of Knowledge perimeter. One of the first movie theaters in the country, it was built in 1935 by architects Wright & Schay, who took inspiration from the traditional architecture found in the Bellavista district of Panama city.
The restoration and reopening of the theater as a multifacility that can seat 750 people is a priority for City of Knowledge Foundation, because it reinforces one of the strategic areas of application of our project: the one related to art and culture. In a city of knowledge such as the one we are building, culture and a permanent supply of programs that foster it are necessary driving forces. The project includes facilities with stateoftheart technology that may be used for the performing arts as well as for lectures on innovation and technology.
With this in mind, FCDS has developed the restoration project and is now in the process of finding strategic partners to get involved in it.
