Teaching Accreditation Conference in the City of Knowledge
The City of Knowledge, the National University Evaluation and Accreditation Board of Panamá, CONEAUPA and the University of Panama, celebrated, inside the Training and Business Center at the City of Knowledge, on May 24th 2011, the conference: “University Teaching Accreditation Process: the Experience of the National Quality and Accreditation Evaluation Agency of Spain (ANECA)”, in charge of Dr. Araceli Sanchis, National Director for Teaching Accreditation of ANECA.
Araceli Sanchis de Miguel is a Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence professor in the computing department of the Carlos III University of Madrid. She has a PHD in Computer Science by the Technical University of Madrid and in Chemical Science by the Complutense University, and has done research work in the Control Group, Learning and System Optimization, CAOS, for the Carlos III University as a member and investigator. Inside the academic management area she is the current coordinator for Teaching Evaluation in ANECA.
The Conference was divided in two parts. The first part focused on the challenge of the implementation and process development of teaching accreditation, and the teaching accreditation process of ANECA University. The second part of the conference consisted in the evolution of the quantity of accredited teachers according to areas of specialty and academic levels, and in the impact of the university’s personnel accreditation in the improvement of higher quality education. Both parts were complemented by a question and answer session.
